A Letter from Rob & Ruth
Hello from Alaska!
We are Rob and Ruth and we are excited to be on this journey to grow our family and become first-time parents. Adoption has been part of our plan since we started dating. We enjoy the outdoors and love being out in nature all year round and look forward to sharing our love of people, cultures, and nature with your child of any race. We look forward to getting to know you and sharing photos, videos, and visits if you would like.
The Story of Us
Once upon a time, two nurses met at work and slowly grew to become friends. One day, Rob stopped Ruth in the hallway as she was leaving to ask if she had plans for Tuesday. She said “No” and Rob then asked “Want to help me pack my trailer?” as he was preparing to move to Alaska, and thus, a relationship began. They started dating after that fateful day. Rob did indeed move to Alaska. Ruth followed a year later after their marriage on a blustery December day. I would like to say that they lived happily ever after, and in all honesty, that is true. They continue to explore their home state and can usually be found outside on their days off. There are camping trips, fishing and hunting adventures, and new skills learned every day. They share a heart for helping others. They both continue to work in their community as nurse practitioners and hope to expand to help people in other countries as well via missions. This happy couple hopes to share these same beliefs and adventures with their child/children.
About Rob
“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”
Rob is energetic, social, patient, and fun-loving. He has a heart for people and loves talking with anyone and everyone. Rob is a helper to all and thrives in teaching and aiding others. He has a special way with children and can always put them at ease quickly. Rob is goofy, quick to laugh, and makes others laugh. He makes chores fun and is always looking for opportunities to try new things. Rob is so excited to share his passion with our child and looks forward to teaching him or her important outdoor life skills like fishing, hunting, and survival skills.
About Ruth
“My favorite day is the one I get to spend with my hands in the dirt.”
Ruth looks for opportunities to excel and capitalizes on them. She is level-headed, calm, adventurous, and with a “just do it” attitude. She is a supporting and loving person who enjoys helping others achieve their goals. She nurtures others to help them become their best possible selves. She grew up on the mission field in Mexico and loves to experience different cultures. She enjoys gardening, knitting, hiking, camping, and fishing. She looks forward to teaching our child about nature, other cultures, and the importance of working hard to achieve their goals.
Home in Alaska
Our home had 5 bedrooms and is located on a lake with a beautiful view of the mountains. It is very open and provides a lot of space to share with family and friends. We have 2 energetic dogs- Abby and Koda, who love to swim in our lake or explore the woods around our home. We enjoy hosting neighbors and friends for cookouts, lake time, or just relaxing. We are close to trails and can go hiking, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and 4-wheeling with just a short walk. One of our favorite pastimes is looking out from our porch or table at the Chugach Mountains or watching the animal life- especially the moose, eagles, and lake birds.
Our Family
Our families are large, full of teachers, and full of love. Rob has 2 siblings and 2 step-siblings who live in Alaska, Michigan, and New Mexico. His extended family spans the Midwest. Ruth’s parents live in Indiana, and her sister is in Kentucky. Her extended family is spread across the country. The running joke is that we can find a relative in almost every state of the country. Both sides have annual family reunions so people can stay in touch. We constantly keep in touch with our families via phone calls, texts, or face time. Both sides love games and will spend most evenings together playing any and every kind of game. Rob’s family is excited to spoil another grandchild, and Ruth’s parents are ecstatic to have their first.
Our Promise
We promise to raise your child in a loving, stable home where they will be nurtured to grow in God’s love. We will ensure they have educational opportunities in schooling, nature, and life skills. They will grow with many adventures, love, and family in a Christ-centered home. We are open to staying in contact with you in any way you feel comfortable and will honor whatever type of relationship you desire. We will share our family’s adoption story with your child, always speak of you with gratitude, and keep you forever in our prayers.
